Specialist Women’s Cancer Support Service

We are delighted to be able to offer a Specialist Women’s Cancer Support Service based at St Giles, Lindridge Road in Sutton Coldfield.

Breast Friends 'Anniversary Appeal' in 2016 raised £70,000 with phenomenal support from The 'Boldmere Bullets', who made us their Charity of the Year, raising over £30,000.

The money raised allowed us to refurbish and furnish a comfortable, private room at St Giles' Centre and our qualified nurse specialist, Katherine, offers confidential advice and information to women and/or their partners and family in a supportive environment. The focus is on cancer symptoms and treatments and the impact they can have on body image, sexuality, relationships and wellbeing. Many issues persist long after treatment ends, and many women feel there is nowhere to turn. This is why we think this service is quite unique, and much needed.

You can self refer to this service by calling Katherine on 0300 330 1297. Alternatively, healthcare professionals may refer patients by contacting the advice and support line on 0300 330 9410.  More information can be found on this leaflet.

Thank you to all who attended the launch on Friday 2nd February 2018, especially the wonderful Supportive Care team from St Giles - Katie, Nicky, Emma and our two nurses. Our MP and patron Andrew Mitchell, patron Kay Alexander and Tom Swinbourne from the Boldmere Bullets. This was the culmination of 18 months' work with St Giles - a special project that we hope will be a lasting legacy to the community in celebration of Breast Friends' 20th anniversary in 2016
